GENEROUS people from across the area have donated tools and equipment to help to enhance the education of youngsters in Kenya.

The Portsmouth Salvation Army appealed for donations of tools, sewing machines, musical instruments and other items to be sent to the village of Kyamutwoi.

Youngsters there are desperate for an education but have limited resources. But thanks to generous donations, a 40ft container full of equipment is now on its way to them.

The Salvation Army is now trying to raise £5,000 to build a new student accommodation block for Kenyan youngsters. People can help by sending cheques made payable to The Salvation Army to The Salvation Army Kyamutwoi Polytechnic Appeal, The Haven Community Centre, Lake Road, Portsmouth, PO1 4HA.
