LIBRARIES have signed up to a new service which will allow its members to download music.
Portsmouth Library Service has joined so members can download a huge range of music.
The service launches today and is provided by Freegal.
Once downloaded, members can keep the tracks and users can also access up to three hours a day of free music streaming – with no adverts.
Portsmouth is one of the first library services in the UK to make this offer to customers.
Mark Zumpe, information and stock librarian at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘Freegal is a fantastic new service.
‘Anyone with a Portsmouth library card can discover new artists, reacquaint themselves with their favourite bands, and explore music from around the world.
‘What’s more, you don’t need to worry about returning anything to the library as all downloaded music is yours to keep.’
