DRAGONS’ Den star Peter Jones is giving students in Portsmouth a helping hand with their careers.

The Peter Jones Enteprise Academy at Highbury College, in Cosham, gives people the chance to study the UK’s first BTEC level two and three qualifications in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.

The academy, which opens next month, will see students learn what it takes to succeed in the competitive world of business through work experience at local businesses.

Students studying for the level three qualification can go on to start their own businesses while learning from others who have started up on their own.

Mr Jones said: ‘Our mission is to develop the entrepreneurial aspirations of our students and encourage them to think big.’

Stella Mbubaegbu, principal of Highbury College, said: ‘The recession is having a brutal effect on the young people of Portsmouth.

‘The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy is offering young people a faster route into a business career.’
