FIREFIGHTERS in Fareham were called to tackle a car fire.

One crew went to Newgate Lane where a Mazda RX-7 was alight.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to put out the blaze and ensure the area was safe. The call came at 9.45am on Saturday.

Watch manager Ian Cambridge said: ‘The car was completely destroyed by the fire. It appears to be an electrical fault that caused it. We do not believe it to be suspicious or malicious. The driver of the car was uninjured.’

No-one else was involved in the incident.
