PORTSMOUTH’S Lord Mayor brought a smile to residents’ faces when she judged an Easter bonnet competition at a care home.

Councillor Lynne Stagg visited Hamilton House Care Centre, in Drayton Lane, Drayton, to judge colourful Easter hats crafted by pensioners and their carers.

Cllr Stagg decided that the best hat was produced by Betty Tsum, 90.

Residents also got to try on the Lord Mayor’s chain.

Cllr Stagg said: ‘Being there was fabulous and the residents and care workers were lovely.

‘The designs for the Easter bonnets were quite creative.’
