THERE was excitement and anticipation as students at Havant Sixth Form College arrived to collect their exam results.

At 8.30am they were allowed in to open the brown envelopes which hold the key to their futures.

Principle John McDougall said: ‘Yet again we’re pleased with an excellent 98 per cent pass rate for our A Level students matching last year’s performance.

‘This is the A* to E grades, The tougher high grades performance reflects some of the tougher marking this year and consequently the college has seen a small dip of some four per cent in this. However, students progressing to university is higher than ever. With students getting in to their first choice universities.’

Budding pharmacist Serge Leonardia, from Portsmouth, gained an incredible A* and three As in biology, chemistry, physics and maths, He said: ‘I’m so happy.’
