A SINGER and two radio DJs helped cut the ribbon on a new community room which will be used by two schools.

Gomer infant and junior schools are now proud owners of a £100,000 facility that has a large projector and points for computers. On hand to celebrate was singer Shirin Sech and Heart FM DJs Jules and Bunker, who is also a News columnist.

Debby Marshall, head of the infant school, said: ‘This is a fantastic new room and we hope it will be used by our pupils’ parents and their friends too.

‘It is like a conference room and it has a kitchen which makes it the perfect space for community groups or meetings.

‘When it is not in use children from both the infant and junior schools will use it.’
