A STUDENT has won a year’s free bus travel.

Abi Flowerday, a 17-year-old student from Cosham, was named as the lucky winner of Hampshire County Council and First’s Zip Bus Priority Corridor competition.

The prize is worth £540 and Abi beat hundreds of other entries.

She was presented with her FirstYear ticket, which will enable her to travel as often as she wishes on any First bus in Hampshire by Councillor Mel Kendal.

Abi said: ‘I use the bus a lot to travel to and from South Downs College where I am studying for my A-levels, and to get in and out of the city centre.

‘I find the buses convenient – they get me where I need to go quickly and easily and that gives me a sense of independence that I wouldn’t otherwise have.

‘I’m thrilled to have won this prize; it will make a real difference to me, enabling me to travel further around Hampshire while saving me lots of money.’
