GIRLS certainly looked the part as they got stuck into an assault course to support the city-wide Be a Hero Day in aid of armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

The sporting youngsters from City of Portsmouth Girls’ School braved the exercise routine for the charity day set up by the Council of Portsmouth Students (Cops).

A cost of 20p was donated to watch the assault course, and all pupils contributed £1 for a non-uniform day.

Teacher Graham O’Neil said: ‘Events like this show just how caring young people are of others and how capable they can be at organising things.

‘I’m delighted Cops and students on school councils have worked with staff to raise a lot of money for a good cause.’
