ADULTS studying at Portsmouth College have been rewarded for their hard work and effort.

An awards evening was held at the college hosted by the adult and continuing education department.

The new Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, councillor Steven Wylie, presented awards to more than 40 students whose dedication, ability and enthusiasm for learning had impressed their tutors.

Each student had been nominated by their course tutor for individual reasons ranging from attendance, enthusiasm, support for others or overcoming difficulties.

Karen Hills, head of adult education, said: ‘With attendance by not just the nominees but family, friends and fellow students there was a great atmosphere throughout the evening.’
