YOUNGSTERS have caught the baking bug after an oven was installed in their nursery.

The children at Kiddi Caru in Whiteley have been discovering how to make fairy cakes, Viennese whirls and birthday cakes.

Business manager Lisa Roper said: ‘The children love it, they have used it everyday and they have been talking about baking with their parents as well.

Kiddi Caru is one of the first nurseries to have an oven installed in its preschool.

‘The staff were quite reluctant to have it in the room at first but now they are taken by it,’ said Lisa.

The children have been learning about how to work safely when using the oven.

Four-year-old Sophie Harfleet said: ‘We like our new oven we are going to keep it forever.

‘We learnt that if you keep things in the oven there is going to be a fire.’
