PROUD Portchester pupils have created the best blooming school in Hampshire.

The youngsters from the Northern Junior Community School won gold for its gardens for the second year running with the added bonus of being judged the best of the county’s 28 entrants in Blooming Schools, part of the annual South and South East in Bloom competition sponsored by Southern Water.

A certificate to mark the accolade was presented to pupils by Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins at Ferneham Hall, Fareham.

On September 13, children from the school will be singing the song Plant A Little Seed on stage at Ferneham Hall when it hosts the awards ceremony.

Chris said: ‘It was lovely to meet such nice children who obviously enjoy their gardening.

‘They thoroughly deserved their gold award and I look forward to hearing them sing at the event in September.’

The school scored 190 out of 200.
