FROM Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter to crazy characters from the world of Dr Seuss, youngsters pulled out all the stops for the end of their book week.

Dressed as characters from their favourite books, children from Wykeham House School, in Fareham, finished the week with a fancy dress parade. During the week the pupils at the all-girls school had taken part in workshops and storytelling sessions with visits from authors Sharon Petersen and Sandra Horn.

They also designed new giant covers for their favourite books and took part in a book-swap.

Headteacher Lynn Clarke said: ‘Book week has been a long-held tradition here at Wykeham House now and it’s always popular.

‘It’s all about giving them a love of books and literature and it’s been a brilliant week.’
