A WEEK filled with activities and events to promote reading ended with a bang when hundreds of girls turned up for school dressed in their favourite literary characters.

Wykeham House School in Fareham was alive with story-telling during its annual Book Week celebration with author visits, writing challenges and lots of reading.

The school welcomed David Schutte, author of the Naitabal Mystery Series, a storyteller who fired up young imaginations, and had a readathon to raise money for charity and illustration workshops.

Lynn Clarke, headmistress, said: ‘Book Week is a very exciting week for the girls – it helps to encourage their love of reading and literacy.’
