ZACH Rumfitt has been writing from a young age.

And now the 16-year-old from Baffins has been rewarded for his efforts after he won the Arts/Media Star award.

Zach, who was a pupil at Admiral Lord Nelson School, has won competitions for writing both stories and poems. He said: ‘I feel good. I’m not sure that I deserve it.

‘I find writing hard at times especially when I write something and go back over it and it’s now what I wanted. But I am always getting ideas. My ideas are the strongest part.’

Zach was nominated by his mum Sally, 51. She said: ‘It’s fantastic. He wrote the most beautiful story for me on Mother’s Day.

‘He sometimes struggles with his confidence. He wants to write so it’s just about him finding an outlet for that.’

Zach has also written a play which was performed by the Kings Youth Theatre.
