YOUNGSTERS have been out making the most of their new outdoor area, thanks to the hard work of a team of volunteers from Scottish and Southern Electric.

The electricity company got involved after Mill Hill Primary School was nominated by the parents of pupils Elizabeth and Sarah Fehr - who work for the firm.

The 18 volunteers levelled off and put down matting in the outdoor area, as well as repainting some outdoor seating and tidying up the nature trail during their day at the Waterlooville school.

Home schooling worker Yvonne Dixon said: ‘The kids love it. They couldn’t wait to go out there the next day.

‘They’ve already been using it in classes for writing activities.

‘Because there are a lot of trees around that area it didn’t dry out so well and it could get very muddy. That shouldn’t be a problem now.

‘We definitely got a good day’s work out of them. They’ve done a great job.’
