THE new Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth will have a time capsule buried under its floor.
The attraction organised a competition for schools to come up with a list of items to represent 2011.
The winning school chose items which included an Argos catalogue, a souvenir of the Royal wedding, a model of the Ark Royal and an energy-saving bulb.
Clare Barnes, of the Mary Rose Trust, said they chose the winning entry from Haselmere Preparatory School in Haslemere, Surrey, because of ‘the imaginative mix of items’.
Two local schools were runners-up – St John’s Cathedral Catholic Primary in Portsmouth and Crookhorn College of Technology in Waterlooville. They are now invited to attend the time capsule ceremony on March 18. The new museum is due to open in 2012.
