Catherington school goes French for the day
A PRIMARY school in Catherington added a bit of va va voom to its lessons by immersing itself in French culture across all aspects of daily life.
Youngsters at Kingscourt enjoyed hot chocolate, baguettes, croissants and cheeses in their French lessons, against a backdrop of French flags and red, white and blue bunting throughout the school.
Even school dinners were French themed with menus written entirely in French.
Ben Thompson, nine, said: ‘I was happy to try all of the food we were offered, even the blue cheese which was surprisingly nice.
‘I hadn’t realised that there were so many cheeses made in France and it’s made me keen to have a look in the supermarket for some more.’
Mia Furneaux, nine, said: ‘I didn’t know children in France like to dip their baguette into hot chocolate at breakfast time. It’s delicious!’
Teacher Charlotte Denby added: ‘We have such a long history together that we think it’s important to try to bring the French culture to life so that learning the language becomes a real pleasure.’
