PUPILS celebrated their favourite stories by dressing up as different characters to mark Book Week.

Throughout the week at Wykeham House School, in Fareham, students took part in a number of activities.

These included decorating the classroom doors in the style of their favourite books, including the Gingerbread Man and Claude in the Country.

Year 10 girls helped everyone get into the spirit of the week by reading to the younger pupils, and everyone took part in a literary quiz.

Headteacher Lynn Clarke said: ‘Pupils and staff enjoy Book Week. It encourages a lifelong love of books and reading.

‘The children and staff all enjoy dressing up as their favourite book characters and we had many wonderful costumes including characters from the Wizard of Oz, The Hobbit and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We even had Aliens in Underpants.’
