CELEBRATIONS have been taking place at a Portsmouth school to mark its conversion to an academy.

Staff and pupils at Cliffdale Primary Academy took part in an event to mark the occasion.

Children at the special school which is in Battenburg Avenue in North End, did pottery, art and played music to celebrate.

Executive headteacher Alison Beane said: ‘They had a lovely day.

‘We had a big celebration party in the afternoon which was lovely.

‘They are very aware of the changes that have been made. The children were a key part of developing and designing the logo.’
