Chichester lecturer’s book launch

A FORMER University of Chichester lecturer has published a ground-breaking book on the work of Canadian writer Alice Munro.

Dr Isla Duncan, who lectured in the department of English and creative writing until her retirement in 2009, has written the first critical work on Munro’s short fiction, which is complex and often unsettling.

Alice Munro’s Narrative Art has been published in Britain, the USA and Canada.

Dr Duncan, who is a research associate at the university, said: ‘The book is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students of Canadian women’s writing.

‘I hope that some university libraries will stock it.’

Dr Duncan will be launching her book at a free event at the Cloisters Chamber, Bishop Otter Campus, on February 29 at 5.15pm.
