Pupils got to learn all about the circus – as their school was transformed into one for the day.
Youngsters at Corpus Christi Primary School in North End, enjoyed a day filled with clowns, animals and other activities as their topic of the circus was brought to life.
Annique Loader, who organised the day, said: ‘As a school we always like to keep the children engaged in what they are learning so we tend to organise fun days like these as a learning tool.
‘We felt that the cost of taking the children from the school to the circus would have been too much so we decided to bring the circus to the them.’
As part of the day the children and teachers from reception, and Years 1 and 2 dressed up as clowns, circus animals and various circus acts such as ring masters.
They had to rotate around various work stations throughout the day – each specialising in a different aspect of a circus.
One work station required the children to use their PE skills to demonstrate and learn circus skills used in shows.
Annique continued: ‘The children absolutely loved it! It was a fantastic and really enjoyable day.
‘I think they mostly enjoyed seeing their teachers dressed up and looking like fools!’
Other fun activities such as clown face painting were available to make the circus theme really come to life.
Annique said: ‘We will be doing more days like these in the future. It’s a very fun way for the children to learn.
‘We have had a lot of positive feedback from parents who thought the circus day was an excellent idea.’
