There’s only so much chocolate eating and television watching to be done by children in the Easter holidays.

So Brune Park Community School in Gosport has organised a Big Week for its pupils.

Activities included swimming, ethnic cooking, circus skills, science and sports.

Assistant subject leader in maths Steven Paul said: ‘It gives the working parent something that their children can do and enjoy, rather than going to any other club that charges a small fortune.

‘A lot of our kids have never done these kind of things before.

‘We wanted to do something all encompassing to include lower-income families.

‘A lot of our kids have to look after themselves.

‘They can learn transferable skills, like patience and communication to take back to the classroom.’

Brune Park’s Big Week is open for all students at £5 per day.

It runs until Thursday from 8.30am until 5pm.
