PRIMARY schoolchildren lit up a Fareham stage with a dazzling original musical production of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol.

About 300 talented singing, acting and dancing youngsters at Hook-with-Warsash Primary were a massive hit with three consecutive sell-out audiences at Ferneham Hall.

Mark Baxter, year six teacher who composed the music, said: ‘The children pulled out all the stops and performed brilliantly.

‘They all worked so hard and did the school proud.’

His daughter Eloise Baxter, 10, who played one of the ‘old hags’ admitted she enjoyed singing a lot on stage.

She said: ‘The experience was nerve-wracking but brilliant fun – it was probably one of the best things I’ve done at school.

‘I love Charles Dickens stories so performing A Christmas Carol was for me a great way to round off the year.’
