AN EMPTY shop window in Cascades shopping centre has been transformed into a display of female icons and other paintings created by GCSE students.

The City of Portsmouth Girls’ artworks have taken pride of place in an unused outlet next to the BHS store and are stopping passers-by in their tracks.

Georgie Boxall, 16, has contributed four pieces including paintings of singer Liza Minnelli and reality show star Kat Von D.

She said: ‘It’s nice to see all our art on display. We’ve had a positive reaction from passers-by which is lovely. I’m pleased with how the window looks.’
