THE FIRST of eight maths classrooms that are undergoing a £12,000 refurbishment was officially opened by Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt.

Youngsters at Mayfield School are thrilled with their newly carpeted and furnished rooms that are giving them an inspiring environment to work in.

Miss Mordaunt said: ‘I am so impressed with Mayfield’s achievement in refurbishing these classrooms.

‘It will make a big difference for the pupils to learn in such a transformed environment.’

David Jeapes, headteacher, added: ‘The impact for the school has been significant.

‘I know our students are greatly enjoying the new classrooms which we hope will be completed by Easter.’
