Cold? Not if you keep warm doing some exercises!

IT MIGHT be freezing temperatures outside, but that didn’t stop nearly 200 children taking part in a mass exercise class to raise money for their school.

Pupils from Titchfield Primary took part in a keep-fit-athon yesterday in a bid to raise some cash for an outdoor classroom in the school grounds.

They spent the day taking part in various sporting activities, ending in a mass aerobics session for 183 children, led by headteacher Mike Bainbridge.

He said: ‘They were great.

‘It’s about being active and it keeps the children fit and healthy – and it’s fun. They were just up for it. The kids lapped it up. I’ve never done that before, I made it up as I went along. We will definitely do it again.’

The children were sponsored by their family and friends. It’s not yet known how much has been raised.

Ness Curtis, chairwoman of the parent and teacher association at the school, said: ‘It’s linked with the Olympics. It’s something that all the children could get involved in.

‘It was fantastic – they were really enthusiastic. They seem to be up for anything to raise money.’

Jeanette Farrell, 37, of Titchfield Park, has three boys who attend the school.

She said: ‘They are mad doing it in the cold. We were up there supporting them. It’s great because it keeps the kids active.’
