MEMBERS of the Dickens Fellowship will be commemorating the baptism of Charles Dickens.

The famous writer, who was born in Portsmouth, was baptised on March 4, 1812. The commemoration service will be held on Sunday, March 2 at the Church of St Alban, Copnor Road in Portsmouth. There will be a service starting at 10.30am followed by readings from ‘The Life of Our Lord’ – a book which Dickens wrote solely for his children to teach them about Jesus Christ, which was not published until 1934.
