THE FUTURE of machines and artificial intelligence will be discussed at a free public lecture at the University of Portsmouth tonight.

Prof David Brown, director of the institute of industrial research, will talk about his ‘virtual engineer’ system, which can work across a range of areas including aircraft, electric cars and machinery with the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Even though his use of AI is not be as outlandish as some Hollywood blockbusters, Prof Brown will argue it is no less exciting in real life when applied to solve engineering problems.

Admission to the 6pm lecture at Portland Building is free but limited places should be booked in advance on events@port.ac.uk or 023 9284 3757.
