THE project manager behind a huge housing development visited a school to make children aware of the dangers of construction sites.

Steve Smith, from Carey’s, was joined by site manager Sid Chattaway at Berewood Primary School which is in the heart of the major West of Waterlooville development.

Mr Smith said: ‘It was felt some of the children, based on previous experiences, may not be able to resist the urge to visit the site during the upcoming Christmas holidays, when the site will be closed and unattended.

‘The children were shown a detailed video explaining the dangers and potential hazards associated with a building site.

‘It was received with great enthusiasm by the children, and the teachers were satisfied that the messages of danger and avoidance would be heeded by the children during the festive period.’
