HAMPSHIRE County Council has given the go-ahead for consultation to begin into plans for 1,000 new school places across the county.

It’s part of a £15m plan to build new classrooms and if it went ahead it would see Emsworth Primary School gain an extra 105 places.

The school in Victoria Road currently has places for 210 children but has a high demand.

Councillor Roy Perry approved the proposals at a children’s services meeting in Winchester. A public consultation will now begin.
