IT’S never too late to learn how to whip up an omelette or spaghetti bolognese.

That’s the message as a new council-backed cookery course starts on Hayling Island.

The course will take place from May 10 at Gorseway Care Community Home, in Seafront.

It is being offered to men over the age of 55 who would like to gain simple tips on preparing healthy meals.

The pilot scheme will cover basic cookery skills, food storage, reheating and freezing.

It has been organised by Havant Borough Council, The Spring and Hampshire County Council.

Nicki Conyard, community team leader, said: ‘We are particularly hoping to attract men who may be living alone, have become recently bereaved or who suddenly find themselves needing to take over the cooking but who may have no experience or confidence.

‘The classes will be in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and include how to cook simple healthy meals.’
