YOUNGSTERS are being encouraged to apply to become a member of the UK Youth Parliament.

Hampshire County Council is looking for young people aged between 11 and 18 to be the voice of young people in Hampshire, as members of the Youth Parliament until 2017.

Hampshire is inviting nominations from candidates to take the four seats it has available.

Those nominated must live in Hampshire and be a UK resident.

A central briefing workshop for people wishing to stand will be held on Saturday, January 24, at the county council headquarters in Winchester from 10am until 1pm.

Prospective candidates must attend the event to complete their election statements and must inform the council by registering at hants.gov.uk/ukyp-elections2015 by Thursday, January 15.

Candidates will be able to stand for election for Fareham, Gosport and Havant. The elections will be held between Monday, February 2 and Friday, February 13.
