A NURSERY school has been given hundreds of pounds in a council grant to help it buy new equipment.
St Paul’s under-fives, at St Paul’s Church in Barnes Lane, Sarisbury Green, has been awarded £500 towards the costs of folding tables, stacking chairs, and interlocking safety mats, all suitable for pre-school-aged children.
It is a new parent and toddler group which meets on Monday afternoons and is open to anyone in the local community.
Run by volunteers from the congregation, it aims to provide a place for parents and carers of pre-school children to meet and gain mutual support and encouragement, while the children play and take part in various activities.
Councillor Sean Woodward, leader of Fareham Borough Council, approved the cash and said: ‘I am pleased that the council has been able to support a local group with a grant from the community fund.
‘This local group provides an opportunity for young people to socialise in a safe and healthy environment.’
