THE Olympic legacy is coming to Cowplain, as youngsters are being invited to take part in a fun run.

Cowplain Community School has been chosen to host a GO Run for Fun event, supported by former athletes Lord Sebastian Coe and Brendan Foster.

It is being managed by Nova International, which organises the Great South Run, and Havant Athletics Club.

The starter pistol for the free-to-enter one-mile run, which is aimed at youngsters aged between five and 16, will be fired at 4.15pm on Friday, October 11.

It is part of a three-year bid to get 50,000 youngsters running and inspire the next generation of sporting talent.

Cowplain school’s headteacher, Ian Gates, said: ‘We extend a warm welcome and our very best wishes to all runners, be they from our own school, partner schools or from our wider community.’
