SAILOR Dee Caffari has had her skills on the water tested after she sailed in a boat made out of plastic bottles.

The record-breaking round-the-world yachtswoman was at Alverstoke Junior School to take part in their annual regatta.

Dee, from Titchfield, is a patron of St Mary’s Junior Sailing Club.

The paddle board was made by children at the school after they challenged her to the task.

Richard Baker-Jones, chairman of the sailing club, said: ‘Dee rose to the challenge very well.

‘The kids had tested it to make sure it took an adult’s weight.

‘It took her weight and she went off quite happily.

‘The children are always so motivated by her.

‘They all cheered her on and had a go afterwards.

‘They had a great time.’
