A LECTURE to celebrate Charles Dickens’ birthday will take place this weekend.

The Dickens’ Birthday Lecture, organised in association with the Dickens Fellowship, began in 1999.

This year it will welcome Mark Bills, curator of the Watts Gallery near Guildford.

The free event will take place on Saturday at the John Pounds Memorial Church on the High Street at 7.30pm.
