SPRINGWOOD Infant and Junior Schools in Waterlooville joined together to celebrate Chinese New Year.

The event was organised by both schools with a professional musician, Arne Brattland.

A workshop was held for the children to perform Chinese music on the cymbals and drums, as used in processions by the Chinese people.

Children also got to chance to perform to authentic Lion and Dragon dances from China using the traditional Chinese costume.

‘It was lovely to see the connection between the infant and junior schools.’ said headmaster of the junior school, Gerry Lathem.

‘The delight of on the faces of the children while they performed the music and dance was fantastic.’
