Dragons fire up imaginations...
STORY TIME Daisy Skilton (princess) and Dylan Biddiscombe (knight) with story teller, Terrie Howey.
TALES about brave knights and dragons fired up the imaginations of primary schoolchildren who were enchanted by a princess storyteller.
Six and seven-year-olds at Whiteley Primary School in Whiteley were treated to magical stories courtesy of David Wilson Homes Southern, who have built homes in the area.
The special treat for all 90 boys and girls in year two was in celebration of National Storytelling Week, last week.
Teacher Becky Sutton said: ‘The princess told them wonderful stories about dragons and knights and Chinese dragons.
‘The children absolutely loved it, they had a great time.
‘When they came back to school they were making up their own stories, which is what it’s all about!’
Ms Sutton said the timing of the event was perfect, as the year group had explored the topic of fairy tales before Christmas – which was a huge success.
She added: ‘Mythical stories really fire up their imaginations because it takes them to far away to another place.’
