STUDENTS from across Havant and Waterlooville had a taste of what their future jobs could be like at a fun careers event.

The 13-to-15-year-olds from Warblington, Cowplain Community, Purbrook Park, Park Comunity and Oakland Catholic schools, as well as from Hayling College and Havant Academy, sampled a variety of activities put on by local sixth form colleges and the universities of Portsmouth and Chichester.

These included hairdressing, art, design, beauty, IT, motor vehicles, science, music and even body combat.

They were also treated to mock interviews and CV workshops during the event at the Mountbatten Centre in Stamshaw.

Rachel Logan, careers co-ordinator at Havant Academy, said: ‘It was a great day and invaluable to the students who had the opportunity to ask questions face to face and get some hands-on experience of what the courses would be like.’
