VOICES of members of one of the area’s biggest youth theatre groups will soon be heard on Broadway.
Youngsters at Dynamo Youth Theatre were approached by sound engineer Ian Dickinson who was working on a new production called Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth at the Royal Court Theatre.
The Havant company and committee members were asked to sing a Cornish folk song to provide an atmospheric background during one of the scenes in the play.
The singers spent a couple of hours rehearsing and singing and recorded the song over and over again until Mr Dickinson was happy he had the right one. The play is soon to transfer to the Music Box Theatre, on Broadway, New York, for a 16-week run.
The singers’ names feature in both the programmes and the published script.
Meanwhile the company are gearing up for Thirty Years, a show which looks back on the triumphs and disasters of the past three decades of Dynamo.
The show is at the town’s The Spring Centre from today until Thursday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and £6.
Dynamo is open to 11 to 18-year-olds.
and they meet Mondays 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Information go to dyt.org.uk
