MORE schoolchildren than ever will be able to learn about the wildlife wonders at a beauty spot.
The RSPB has appointed a permanent education officer at Pagham Harbour, near Bognor, to help local schoolchildren and students be inspired first-hand by the natural world there.
It is the first major change the RSPB has made at Pagham Harbour since taking over the day-to-day management of the nature reserve from West Sussex County Council in February.
Debbie Barnes, who has worked at the harbour in a temporary capacity since 2008, will now lead the development of the field teaching programme with her team of volunteers.
She said: ‘This will enable us to take the high quality education service at the harbour to a whole new level. We will offer a programme of educational sessions tailored to meet the National Curriculum.’
