FORMER Tory MP and Strictly Come Dancing star Ann Widdecombe will be giving a free talk about faith in politics at a Southsea school.
The former politician, who is well known for her conservative views based on her Catholic faith, will be visiting St John’s College as a guest of its politics society next Tuesday.
Outside her political career, Ms Widdecombe has published four novels, and has made numerous radio and TV appearances.
Her latest project is to be question master on a new quiz show, Cleverdicks.
Dr Graham Goodlad, politics teacher, said: ‘It will be a great pleasure to welcome Ann Widdecombe back to St John’s on this, her second visit.
‘We are expecting a large audience on this occasion, as Ann is popular both in politics and on screen.’
Head boy John Wilkinson, 18, who is studying politics, added: ‘I know among young people Ann Widdecombe is more widely known for her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, however I am also looking forward to hearing about her lifetime in politics.’
The open event starts at 7pm with refreshments in the school’s auditorium.
