ALMOST 700 youngsters from Fareham schools will join four million across the country in a major sports initiative this month.

The Fareham Games will kick off with a primary school tournament at Henry Cort Community College on June 28 featuring netball, tag rugby, hockey and athletics.

Following that, on June 29, an ‘infant agility’ event will take place at Fareham Leisure Centre as well as an ‘inclusive festival’ at Portchester Community School for wheelchair basketball, boccia and new age kurling.

The games form part of the Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week.

Gareth Satherley, Fareham Borough Council’s leisure development manager, said: ‘We are confident The Fareham Games will inspire and motivate young people to take up sport and enjoy a healthier, more focused lifestyle.’

The event been organised by the Fareham School Sports Partnership.
