INFANT schoolchildren came up with winning recycling poster designs for a competition open to schools across Fareham.

Six year one youngsters from Wallisdean Infants impressed Segensworth Business Forum managers with their response to the challenge of creating posters on the theme of recycling with the three arrows representing ‘recycle, reuse and reduce’ on them.

Their posters all illustrated how the children went from collecting used tins, cereal boxes and cardboard and made them into model dinosaurs – to complement the term topic they were studying in school.

And although there was only supposed to be one overall winner, forum members were so impressed that they decided to award six five and six-year-olds with £5 book tokens and a £50 token for the school.

Nikki Getty, assistant head, said: ‘We are very proud of our children, they did fantastic job!

‘It was a lovely surprise to win the competition.’

She added: ‘We always encourage recycling, and ways to be creative with it.

‘We have recycling bins throughout the school and children help themselves to make fun things.’
