NEW school meals will be provided for children in Portsmouth.
The city council has signed a new contract with ISS Education, who will provide school meals for all primary and special schools, and for four of the secondary schools: King Richard, City of Portsmouth Boys, Mayfield and Springfield.
There will be three main dishes and two vegetable accompaniments to choose from, and a salad bar with up to six salad choices daily.
There will also be a selection of hot and cold deserts on offer, and the option of cold water or semi-skimmed milk to drink.
The council is now encouraging parents and carers to get in touch, and find out if their children are eligible for free school meals.
There will be a phone-in day on Wednesday, October 3, for parents to see if they could claim.
Parents can call Julie Sabiston on the day on (023) 9283 4962 for a free consultation.
All they need to provide is the name, date of birth and national insurance number.
