A CONTRACTOR which is set to start work on the £10m Havant Academy rebuild this summer has launched a poetry competition for schoolchildren.

Youngsters in the area between the ages of eight and 14 are encouraged to get involved in the BAM Contract competition by sending in pieces of prose about forests and woodlands.

In October, winners from each regional category will go on to a national finals.

A range of prizes will be awarded including Amazon Kindles.

Caroline Cook, BAM’s head of corporate social responsibility, said: ‘Wherever we work, we engage extensively with schools and pupils, and of course recognise that construction work affects our environment.’

Entries will be accepted until September 30. To find out more about Words4Woods visit bam.co.uk/w4w.
