A WORLD-renowned chamber music group is returning to Portsmouth to entertain an audience with the sounds of Haydn, Schubert and Chausson.

The Doric String Quartet will perform at the University of Portsmouth’s Third Floor Arts Centre tomorrow as part of the Music in the Round series.

Founded in 1998, the quartet has performed across the world and won several international prizes.

Colin Jagger, the university’s director of music, said: ‘Two years ago the Doric Quartet was one of the highlights of the season, so it is with great excitement that we welcome them back to Portsmouth.’

Music in the Round is a scheme which aims to tour chamber music across regional venues. It is jointly sponsored by the university and the New Theatre Royal with funding from Arts Council England.

Tickets for the concert which starts at 7.30pm are £15 (£12 concessions) and can be bought at the door or in advance by calling (023) 9284 3023 .
