STARDOM beckons for adults who love to dance – with free workshops led by a West End star that will culminate in a major public performance.

The New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth will host Laura Doye, who performs in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Cats!

They will kick-start a programme for adults to create a performance piece for the Flying A Flag musical event at Gunwharf Quays on July 1.

Laura said: ‘I’m passionate about offering this opportunity to Portsmouth residents and I’m delighted to be working in partnership with the New Theatre Royal to develop a new and exciting programme.’

On April 12, there will be two free workshops at the theatre – from 1.30pm to 3pm for over-50s and from 7pm to 8.30pm for over 20s.

Flying A Flag is a fiesta of dance and live music that will wave off a special 30-foot yacht made out of donated wooden items including parts of HMS Warrior – with world record-breaking yachtswoman Dee Caffari at the helm.

It is being organised in partnership with Aspex Gallery.
