A LEADING authority on the genre of Spanish still life painting will be giving a free lecture at the University of Portsmouth tomorrow.

Dr Peter Cherry, who has written extensively on the subject and has curated several major exhibitions including the successful ‘Spanish Still Life Painting’ show at the National Gallery London in 2000, will talk about the significance of still life painting in the development of Spanish painting during the Golden Age (1500 to 1700).

The free lecture sponsored by the Spanish Embassy will be held at the university’s Park Building in King Henry I Street, and starts at 6pm.
